Golf course turfgrass filters water runoff from surrounding areas and may filter effluent water from the community as well. Golf course trees, shrubs, rough areas and water features provide habitat for many species of animals and plants. Golf courses are designed to enhance the landscape. They are an excellent way to restore areas damaged by mining, burning, or landfills to the community.

Turfgrasses offer outstanding protection of our soil and water resources. In addition, they provide a playing surface for a variety of recreational activities, including golf. A properly landscaped and managed golf course can be a tremendous asset to any community - both economically and environmentally.
